William James Studies invites submissions of not more than 8000 words on the life, work, and influence of William James from scholars across the disciplines. SPECIAL ISSUE: Call for papers for a special issue focused on James's relationship to science. Guest Editor for this issue is David Layzer, Donald H. Menzel professor astrophysics emeritus, Harvard University. Suggested topics include James's views on natural science and its methodology, as shaped by his training in chemistry, physiology and anatomy; influences on James by 19th century scientific thinking, such as attempts to derive macroscopic physical laws from laws governing atoms and their interactions; James?s own scientific theorizing, such as his writings on habit. Please send 500-word proposals and a one-page c.v. to Linda Simon (lsimon@skidmore.edu) or Mark Moller (moller@denison.edu) by May 1. Completed papers will be due December 2011.
